Dear Parents and Students,
The Safety Harbor Math Club (Safety Harbor, Florida) meets every Saturday at the Safety Harbor Library from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. It is open to anyone interested in troubleshooting difficulties in math. There is no membership charge.
The idea underlying the Math Club is to mobilize parents and students as a tutoring resource to complement the teaching efforts in schools. Members are encouraged to learn how to troubleshoot difficulties in math and become Math Club Tutors. Close attention and supervision from existing Math Club Tutors makes this possible. Individual programs are issued to new Math Club members to help them overcome their roadblocks in math.
Elementary school age children are required to be accompanied by their parents. The parents are guided on how to help their young children complete their individual programs. Middle and High school students are usually paired up to assist each other complete their individual programs under trained supervision.
Some math references are recommended but a member may bring his or her own textbook. This volume of Troubleshooting Guide for Mathematics (ELEMENTARY VOLUME I) is available to introduce basic math concepts on a gradient of complexity. The goal of the Math Club is to help develop abilities to think and analyze using mathematics as a tool. The entire focus of learning is on conceptual understanding. For further details please send me an e-mail (see below).
